Award Ceremony:
Chief Standing Bear Prize for Courage

The Standing Bear Prize for Courage was created In 2022 to honor a Native American who exemplifies courage in the spirit of Ponca Chief Standing Bear.

This year’s Prize will be presented to Nebraska State Senator Tom Brewer a member of the Oglala Lakota tribe and representing the 43rd district in Northwest Nebraska. Senator Brewer will be awarded the prize at a ceremony on Indigenous People’s Day, October 9, 2023. Click HERE to read more about Senator Brewer and his courage.
