Nathan Meier

 Nathan Meier is Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, Capacity and Competitiveness in the Office of Research and Innovation at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL). He leads the university’s research development portfolio, advancing faculty success, institutional strategy, and national competitiveness in securing external funding. Over the last two decades, Meier and his team have helped UNL capture more than $870 million in extramural funding to advance discovery, creativity, innovation, societal benefit, and economic impact in and beyond Nebraska.

A recognized leader in research development and funding strategy, Meier has served on boards and advisory bodies spanning higher education, nonprofit, and national research initiatives. His service includes the Big Ten–Ivy League Traumatic Brain Injury Research Collaboration, the Center for Advancing Research Impact in Society, Huru International, and the San José State University Research Foundation. He also advises multiple National Institutes of Health–funded centers focused on basic biomedical research and public health, including the Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases, the Nebraska Center for Integrated Biomolecular Communication, and the Rural Drug Addiction Research Center.

Meier is a Fellow and past president of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), where he has helped shape the field through leadership development, governance, and initiatives that expand participation and impact across the research enterprise. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Master of Technical and Professional Communication from Auburn University.
