Since 1991, Jim has served as the CEO of CEDARS, an organization founded in Lincoln by caring community members who saw the tremendous needs of under-resourced kids and families in the community. Under his leadership, the nationally accredited CEDARS organization was the first-ever recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s Integrity Award for a non-profit.
For his dedication to the children in this community, Jim has been awarded the UNO School of Community Affairs and Public Services Alumni Award in Public Service and the National Association of Social Workers – Nebraska Chapter Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also appointed by the Governor as a member of the Nebraska Children’s Commission multiple times and served on their Executive Committee.
Jim holds an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska – Omaha. In addition to his work at CEDARS, Jim is proud to have served others through the Urban Housing Foundation, Community Alliance, and Catholic Social Services.
